To promote sanitation and build environment for its sustainability, the unsung heroes of waste management were felicitated at the times swachhata utsav on October 21,2019 in Surat for their efforts to the city clean.
The chief guest of this event was Banchhanidhi Pani, IAS, Municipal Commissioner of Surat. On recycling of plastic waste, Pani said, “As a responsible citizen of our country, we should believe in sustainable development and should reuse, reduce and recycle our plastic waste.” He also added that, “In India, recycling plastic bottles and making it as a polymer will not only clean our country but also boost our economy.” PU Dave, Regional Officer of GPCB, who while felicitating the rag pickers, titled them as Swachhata Soldiers. He appreciated this gesture of JB EcoTex, and averred, “The government’s next big target is to phase out single use plastic by 2022 and in achieving so, the most crucial role will be played by our Swachhata soldiers. The felicitation programs like this will indeed motivate and boost their moral to do better for the society.
